On Friday, May 4th, a severe wind storm, with gusts up to 120 km/hr, ripped through Southern Ontario, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Over 100,000 homes were left without power due to downed trees, and hydro poles. Tragically, three fatalities occurred as a result of the storm.
Damage to property largely included missing shingles, downed fences, and interior water damage. More serious damage occurred where large trees or limbs fell onto homes, sheds, or vehicles.
In the wake of the storm, SPECS has been called upon by some national insurers to assist with the handling of wind-related claims. With our extensive network of experienced appraisers across Ontario and our KPI based approach to claims handling, we have been able to quickly mobilize, and quantify losses, aiding adjusters in greatly reducing cycle time.
